| Hi - and thanks for visiting my Web Site! I've been designing cross stitch since June, 1999 - and am having so much fun with this that I now wonder why I waited so long to get started! I've been stitching ever since I can remember, but hadn't really given much thought to actual design until I married my husband, John, and was able to quit my full-time job. I worked as a graphic artist and then as a technical illustrator for many years, the majority of those being in the auto industry where there was much required overtime which left very little time (or energy!) for me to be creative at home. When John suggested I quit work in 1995, I jumped at the chance. I spent the first few years re-decorating the house and just generally enjoying not having to go to a regular job each day. I soon discovered, though, that I needed a creative outlet. That's when Lavender Wings was born. Dreamer's High was my first design, and (maybe because of that!) is still my favorite. It's a band sampler with no specialty stitches - and I've come up with a few designs since then along that same line; using no specialty stitches. John and I live with our cocker spaniel JesiLyn (who, like her predecessor Molly McGee, thinks she's a people trapped in a dog suit ...) in Washington Township, Michigan (about 30 miles north of Detroit). We moved into a new home which we designed and built in 2001, and we've both had a great time fixing it up and getting settled in. |
